Common drivers are unsigned and prompting for installation
When attaching a common device (a device which windows has build in drivers for) one is prompted with a dialog asking to search for the driver. Additionally under the device installation process one is prompted with an unsigned driver warning.
Cause
Files in the folder %Systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 are corrupt.
Solution
Remove the %Systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 directory. Windows will recreate a new one upon restart.
Take care not to delete the %Systemroot%\System32\Catroot directory as Windows will not recreate it.
